I spent my whole night working on this painting in my sketchbook. The inspiration came from a picture on Sktchy and although I had made the drawing a while back, I decided to finally paint it. I got to use a couple of my new Daniel Smith watercolors, Indigo (PB60, Pbk6) and Pyrrol Scarlet (PR255) together with some old favorites (DS Monte Amiata Natural Sienna, DS Lapis Lazuli, and Schmincke Cobalt Blue Light). I finished it off with Finetec/Coliro gold details.
I wanted to take a moment to show the painting that I made for the art show mentioned in the last post. It's called Second Sight, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
I have to say that I'm really glad that I attended Ash's book release party. I had the opportunity to hear Ash's powerful reading of her poetry, look at beautiful artwork, and meet other interesting Portland folks. I also felt deeply touched by the kind feedback I received on my painting while at the show. My painting will be up along with other lovely pieces until April 30th, so if you happen to be in the area, definitely stop by!
UPDATE: As it turns out, my painting sold! I'm not sure who bought it, but I was filled with joy!
